Glo Choi

Community Organizer,

HANA Center

Glo Choi is a community organizer with HANA Center, an immigrant justice organization that serves Korean, Asian, and multi-ethnic immigrants with critical services, education, and advocacy in the Albany Park neighborhood of Chicago and suburban Prospect Heights. In his role at HANA, Glo builds power with community members and focuses on empowering undocumented immigrants and expanding the immigrant rights narrative.

A strong believer in the power of youth voices, Glo developed HANA’s Civic Leaders Fellowship program for college-aged Asian Americans in the Chicago area to learn about immigration history and policies, structural racism and racial justice, and community organizing. He also developed OCEAN, an organizing collective of young undocumented Asian and multi-ethnic members who lead Citizenship for All campaigns.

Glo approaches his work from his own lived experience as an undocumented person with a low-income family and a sister who lives with disabilities. He has the courage and willingness to share his personal story to inspire others to join the fight against systems of oppression. He meets people where they are, engages them, and fosters leadership development of youth, especially Asian and undocumented immigrants. Glo believes in the critical need for systemic change and brings the voices of undocumented people to create that change.
