Yvette Moyo
She has made history with the Real Men Cook® event, which has evolved into a national Father’s Day tradition in leading cities. Another national brand is the MOBE Symposium, the national business series she created to accelerate Black success. To address the need for educational supports for Black children, added the MOBE Independent Education Narrative: HBCUs, and Beyond, engaging leading companies including Prudential, AARP, BET and HBCUGo TV.
Yvette sees a need and steps up to address it. Displaying her local leadership, she has begun revitalizing Chicago’s 75th Street Corridor, having acquired South Shore’s Quarry Arts and Culture Event Center in 2018. Amid the pandemic, the Quarry transformed from a hub of weekly jazz and blues into a food stability complex, leading collaborative efforts for the distribution of over one million pounds of groceries and personal protective equipment (PPE) to families in need. Yvette is a force in South Shore, the Chicago cultural community, and the national Black community due to her recognition that the needs of real people are not separate or exclusive. She is committed to working collaboratively with local stakeholders, communities, and organizations to create sustainable change.
