Healing Illinois Grant Applications Open — Apply Now through November 15

We are pleased to share news that the Field Foundation will partner with the Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS) for the renewal of Healing Illinois, a racial healing initiative, for 2024-2025. Through this program, we will distribute $4.5 million in grants to nonprofits across the state to begin or continue the work of racial healing.
Introduced in 2020 to address racial disparities, Healing Illinois has supported efforts to bring racial healing to communities in innovative and impactful ways. At the core of this initiative is the belief that everyone in Illinois can play a role in healing by valuing each other’s experiences and honoring the histories of our state’s diverse communities.
In 2023-2024, the Field Foundation and IDHS partnered to distribute Healing Illinois grants to 184 organizations for community-based activities. Funding priorities for 2024-2025 are focused on:
Community Building and Engagement: Supporting existing racial healing activities to strengthen relationships and promote collective healing within and across communities.
Media and Storytelling: Using media, narrative and creative storytelling to advance healing.
Education and Awareness: Helping individuals and communities understand the impact of historic and ongoing harms while highlighting pathways toward healing.
We are accepting Healing Illinois grant applications now through November 15, 2024. Applicants must be 501(c)(3) organizations in good standing with the Illinois Secretary of State. See additional information below and at: www.healing.illinois.gov
