Jasmine H. Benjamin, PhD
Program Manager
Dr. Jasmine Benjamin serves as Program Manager at the Field Foundation, where she supports two key collaborations with the MacArthur Foundation: the "A Road Together" (ART) initiative, and the Leaders for a New Chicago Award.
A former Field Fellow, Jasmine brings a thoughtful blend of research expertise, grantmaking experience, and a deep commitment to centering community leadership in all aspects of her work.
Originally from New Orleans, Jasmine moved to Chicago for graduate school and quickly fell in love with Chicago’s people, culture, and community spirit. Before rejoining the Field Foundation, she served as a Program Associate at the Hyams Foundation in Boston, where she supported a vibrant portfolio of grassroots grantee partners and helped shape a grantmaking strategy grounded in centering community leaders and movement infrastructure. While at Hyams, Jasmine led a youth organizing needs assessment to elevate the voices and priorities of youth-led and multigenerational groups, helping to inform the foundation’s broader strategy.
In addition to her philanthropic work, Jasmine serves on the boards of Healing to Action and the Center for Engaged Scholarship, where she supports organizational visioning, planning, and financial stewardship.
Jasmine holds a PhD in Political Science, an M.A. in Social Sciences from the University of Chicago, and a B.A. in Politics and Justice Studies from Claflin University. Outside of work, you can often find her knitting, painting ceramics, trying new foods, or spending quality time with her family.
