Community Power Building
We invest in organizations that advance resident-defined agendas to drive transformational change and improve community wellbeing.

For the Field Foundation, community power building means making strategic investments in civic infrastructure, organizers, and social justice initiatives that address residents’ most pressing needs.
Recognizing that robust civic infrastructure and active participation are fundamental to solving complex community challenges, we have evolved from solely justice-based grantmaking to a broader community power building approach. By supporting efforts that amplify community voices and strengthen collective action, we aim to help shape a more inclusive and participatory democracy.
Our approach balances immediate impact with long-term transformation: We support organizations responding to urgent community needs while simultaneously investing in the civic infrastructure that enables residents to drive lasting, systemic change.
